Social Media, Filming & Photography Policy

Social Media,
Filming & Photography Policy

This policy is intended to supplement our data protection and safeguarding policies and to clarify how we use social media, the content that is shared and our protocols for using written content, images, films etc. where ourselves, clients and participants are represented.

Our business social media accounts are separate from our personal social media accounts and content is not shared between our business and personal accounts. Where recommended content from our personal accounts is shown to clients or students by the social media platform, this is outside our control and we are not liable for any issues arising.

Requests by clients, students, and colleagues to share content on our business accounts will only be considered if they comply to our service agreements and do not contain inappropriate content, as described below. Such requests made outside our written agreements remain at our discretion. Requests to share content on personal accounts will not be accepted.

Content must not contain any material that might be defamatory or incur liability to Lighthouse Tai Chi or its clients. All posts, images, videos, messages, status updates or links to material or content must not include inappropriate content.

Inappropriate content includes self-harm, pornography, racial or religious slurs, hate speech, fake news, gender-specific comments, information encouraging criminal skills, violence or terrorism, or materials relating to cults, gambling or illegal drugs. This definition of inappropriate content or material also covers any text, images or other media that could reasonably offend someone on the basis of race, age, sex, religious or political belief, national origin, disability, sexual orientation or any other characteristic protected by law.

Lighthouse Tai Chi will never use social media for any illegal or criminal activities, send offensive or harassing material to others via social media, send or post messages or material that could damage our clients’ image, security or reputation – this extends to commenting on or reposting of others content, discuss clients, customers or suppliers without their approval, reveal any personal or sensitive or confidential information of customers, suppliers, participants or colleagues or post, upload, forward or link spam, junk email, chain emails and messages.

Lighthouse Tai Chi will use social media to post and share content, updates and messages to promote our classes and business activities, to share information and content we create and created by our clients to support their business and promote their activities, to inform clients, students and the public about tai chi, qigong, fitness, wellbeing, health, active lifestyles, special offers and important information and updates, to provide insight into the experience of our work, activities and events, to support new product launches and other initiatives and create positive attention for our brand.

Monitoring of comments, tags and mentions is undertaken regularly, and we reserve the right to remove these as we see fit and where this is inappropriate or offensive. We are not liable for any comments, tags or mentions, misrepresentations or alleged ‘jokes’ made by others on our social media content, or the result of people being offended, mislead, or scammed as a result. We will endeavour to report such content but cannot be held liable for any action or inaction by the social media platforms as a result. Offensive content will be removed, and we will correct any misleading or false content as quickly as possible.

Where threats are made or implied or we feel there is a safeguarding concern, we reserve the right to report this to the relevant UK authorities. Please see our safeguarding policy.

Lighthouse Tai Chi recognises that social media reaches and influences real people and will aim to be respectful, polite and patient when engaging in conversations and comments and will not make any kind of personal attack or offensive remarks to individuals or groups.

Press releases are copy and fact checked before posting, sharing, or sending to the press and media representatives. Lighthouse Tai Chi is not liable for any changes made to this content by other businesses or media organizations or their representatives or artificial intelligence that generate, share or imply fake or incorrect information, unfair, rude or upsetting commentary, misrepresentation, defamation, libel, plagiarism or upsetting content.

Images, films and written content that includes or represents students and clients may be generated at sessions and used by Lighthouse Tai Chi and shared by clients and students on social media platforms. We will always ask permission, explain how we will use the content, images or film and give people the opportunity to be removed or disguised in the content in line with community guidelines on the social media platforms. We are not responsible for other people identifying or tagging a person, but we will try to remove this where possible and request that the person’s privacy should be respected.

In public areas the capturing and use of images and filming of people does not require consent. This will apply to our public events and demonstrations. We also reserve the right to take appropriate images and films to promote and inform about our activities at public events without consent.

At sessions we hold in public spaces we will ask people to limit their photography and filming so as not to cause a nuisance or hazard and to respect that people are participating in a wellbeing session and not performing for public entertainment. However, we cannot enforce a ban. If a drone is being used or we are concerned that the person is targeting children and/or vulnerable adults, the police will be contacted to enforce any relevant laws.

Filming and photographing of our instructors in a public place are usually not restricted but when we are hired by clients and organisations for non-public sessions, demonstrations, talks, tasters and events, our permission must be obtained in advance and a fee will be added to the invoice if the imagery is used for commercial purposes. This will always be declared in advance of any bookings. Such filming and image taking must not be intrusive or create a distraction or risk to the safety of our instructors.

Our business name can be used when our business is represented and must respect our copyrights and Registered Trademarks. Please see our Trademark and Copyright information.

Our business accounts can be tagged only if appropriate. Any use of our personal names must have our consent and tagging of our personal accounts or sharing our personal information is strictly prohibited.

Enquiries, Concerns and/or Complaints regarding our sessions where photography and filming has occurred should be emailed to the organiser of the session. If Lighthouse Tai Chi is solely responsible for the session, and if clients wish to forward relevant information or make a request, please email us at lighthouseuk1@outlook.com We will aim to respond promptly, handle disputes fairly and in accordance with our policies, that of any client involved and abide by UK laws in England or the country where the session was held. We will not make any charge for our time and efforts involved in researching, responding or assisting with any investigation.
