Business Name: Lighthouse Tai Chi®The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply from 25 May 2018, when it supersedes the UK Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA).
Personal Data: Personal Client/Student data taken and stored by Lighthouse Tai Chi®, to be used only and exclusively for the health and wellbeing of the client/student so that they can receive tuition in a safe manner and to comply with Lighthouse Tai Chi® instructors insurance.
Any images or films will be used for promotional and advertising activities only by LHTC. They are never sold or given to 3rd parties. All identities are withheld, and permission is requested prior to the image being taken or used by LHTC. A client may request that images and film are never taken. Email addresses when requested by LHTC, are used only to send specific learning resources and newsletters and contact about the sessions pertinent to the client/student. No other persons or agencies have the right to access any data held on file. Clients/ students may unsubscribe at any time without giving any reason.
Personal data stored may include: a registration form which details client name, address, contact telephone number, email address and relevant medical details which affect their participation. The registration documents are paper records and only a name is entered on to an attendance register database.
All data is stored securely on the premises in a private and secure area. These premises are locked and secured each night.
Data protection principles
Personal data at Lighthouse Tai Chi® is stored for as long as the client/student is attending. Registration forms for anyone who stops attending after 6 months are shredded and their email address is deleted unless they specifically request to remain on the email list.
All data is: Processed lawfully, fairly, and transparently; collected only for the purposes of accessing professional tuition and for insurance in the case of a claim by the instructor or the client/student; adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary; accurate and kept up to date; kept with integrity and confidentiality.
The owners of Lighthouse Tai Chi® are solely responsible for all client data. All clients/student agree to the above way in which data is stored by signing the registration form and accepting the terms and conditions given to them on their first attendance. If a client/student is not in agreement with how their personal data is stored, used and handled, Lighthouse Tai Chi® will unfortunately not be able to provide tuition, guidance or access to learning resources to them.
